The Epic Opportunities Foundation is a registered charity focused on supporting and promoting the work of Epic Opportunities Inc.  Epic Opportunities Inc. empowers people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to thrive in everyday life by providing holistic support and building inclusive communities.

We are searching for individuals who may be interested in volunteering on our board of directors. The Epic Opportunities Foundation Board is responsible for the governance of the organization.

The three main objectives of the Epic Opportunities Foundation are:

• To provide funding for capital expenditures such as long-term, community-based homes for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• To provide funding for special projects or initiatives that might not otherwise be available for persons with intellectual disabilities.
• To raise the profile of Epic Opportunities and its work in the community.

The Epic Opportunities Foundation knows the importance of building a strong team, including its board of directors, where diverse abilities, backgrounds, cultures, identities, languages, and perspectives drive a high standard of service. The Epic Opportunities Foundation supports equitable employment practices and promotes representation of designated groups (women, Indigenous people, persons with disabilities, visible minorities). We welcome and encourage Indigenous people, visible minorities, and persons with disabilities to express their interest in becoming a board member.

Specifically, the Board is responsible for:

• Working with the Executive Director to develop and implement a strategic plan for the Foundation
• Overseeing the work of the Foundation
• Ensuring that the organization is carrying out its mission
• Monitoring the organization's financial health and overall capacity
• Providing professional assistance as required by the organization, determined by Board decision, or Executive Director request
• Supporting The Epic Opportunities Foundation’s events (For g., Fundraising events, Annual General Meeting, Promotional Events)
• Paying the annual membership fee of $15 (The Epic Opportunities Foundation’s by-laws require that all board of directors must be members)

The Foundation’s activities include:

• Serving as the primary fundraising body for Epic Opportunities Inc.
• Developing and implementing fundraising initiatives.
• Developing an endowment fund to provide stable and long-term support to Epic Opportunities Inc.
• Investing and managing funds responsibly and effectively.
• Promoting community awareness about the work of Epic Opportunities Inc.

We need board members who have the following experience:

• Board Governance

• Fundraising & Event Planning
• Marketing & Communications
• Donor Engagement & Stewardship
