Urban Roots London is a non-profit organization that revitalizes underused land in the City of London for agriculture by:

Producing high-quality, organic vegetables and herbs

Distributing produce locally, directly to consumers and to private and social enterprises

Developing agricultural opportunities for the neighbourhood, social enterprises, and community organizations within the City of London

Growing a self-sustaining, urban agricultural model to germinate to new sites
Human Resources Committee Overview

The Human Resources Committee is a standing committee established by the Board of Directors
-
The Human Resources Committee reports to the Urban Roots Board of Directors
The primary purpose of the Human Resources Committee is to:

Establish organizational policies and procedures surrounding human resources within the organization, providing the necessary governance to ensure they are being fulfilled

Ensure human resources risks are appropriately identified and mitigated in the strategic planning process

Assist in full cycle recruitment including reviewing hiring requirements, preparing job postings, screening/selection of candidates, conducting interviews, extending contracts, and overseeing employee check-ins
Qualifications

Friendly and energetic professional with an interest in Urban Roots’ mission
-
Experience in Human Resources i.e. recruiting, hiring, training, administration is an asset
-
Experience in the development and implementation of Human Resources policies and procedures is an asset

Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Committee Member Expectations

Attend and participate in monthly Human Resources Committee meetings remotely. In-person meetings are expected when provincial guidelines allow

Prepare adequately for meetings in order to make informed decisions
Time Commitment

3–4 hours per month, starting as soon as possible. Minimum 2-year term.
