Friends of Ruby is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support our incredible Pride programming this year! Volunteering at Friends of Ruby gives you the opportunity to support the mental health and wellbeing of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth in a time where the community is particularly vulnerable.

If you're looking to make meaningful connections with like-minded people, celebrate Pride month by investing in 2SLBGTQIA+ youth, and work to make Pride 2023 a memorable, meaningful, and exciting time, volunteer with Friends of Ruby! We are looking for volunteers to march with us and support our marchers during the parade, support with soliciting donations at the Street Fair, and work at our Friends of Ruby booth at Street Fair. Volunteer Role: Street Fair Booth VolunteersDescription: Support Friends of Ruby staff in running the Friends of Ruby booth at Pride Street Fair. Provide information to visitors about Friends of Ruby, help with set up and clean up, hand out materials/supplies to visitors, engage with youth visiting the booth.Shifts:

  • Friday, June 23rd - 6:30-9:30PM, 8:30-11:30PM.
  • Saturday, June 24th - 12:30-4:30PM, 4:00-8:00PM, 7:30-11:30PM.
  • Sunday, June 25th - 12:30-4:30PM, 4:00-8:00PM, 7:30-11:30PM.

Accessibility and Additional Notes: The booth is outdoors, there will be shade and seating available. May require lifting up to 25 lbs., however, lifting is not mandatory.

 

Volunteer Role: Fundraising Volunteers

Description: Engaging Street Fair attendees and asking for donations for Friends of Ruby using TipTap machines.

Shifts: Friday, June 23rd; Saturday, June 24th; Sunday, June 26th

Accessibility and Additional Notes: Outdoors, will require walking around the Street Fair.

 

Volunteer Role: Pride March Support

Description: Help carry a giant flag during the march and collect donations that are thrown onto the flag from the crowd. Support with any march organization as needed, such as giving water to marchers and providing support around the parade float.

Shifts: Sunday, June 25th - 12:00-6:00PM.

Accessibility and Additional Notes: Outdoors, will require walking the entirety of the parade route, carrying a flag/other items.

 

Volunteer Role: Community Connect

Description: Handing out Pride merchandise to attendees.

Shifts: Friday, May 26th; Sunday, May 28th

Accessibility and Additional Notes: Volunteers must register through Toronto Pride.

 

Volunteer Role: Flag Raising at Nathan Phillip Square

Description: Representing Friends of Ruby, handing out Pride merchandise.

Shifts: Thursday, June 1st

Accessibility and Additional Notes: Volunteers must register through Toronto Pride.

 

Volunteer Role: Pride Kick-Off Party

Description: Representing Friends of Ruby, handing out Pride merchandise.

Shifts: Friday, June 2nd

Accessibility and Additional Notes: Volunteers must register through Toronto Pride.

 

Volunteer Role: 'Till Sunset Jam Party

Description: Representing Friends of Ruby, handing out Pride merchandise.

Shifts: Saturday, June 10th

Accessibility and Additional Notes: Volunteers must register through Toronto Pride.

 

Volunteer Role: Cabana Pool Party

Description: Representing Friends of Ruby, handing out Pride merchandise.

Shifts: Friday, June 16th

Accessibility and Additional Notes: Volunteers must register through Toronto Pride.
