Overview:

 

We are seeking dedicated volunteers to help enhance the lives of the people we support. We offer a range in volunteer opportunities, such as residential and virtual visits, recreational activities, photography, helping at a DASCH hosted event, and many more! We value and appreciate each one of our volunteers and are so thankful for the difference each one is making. Volunteering at DASCH is a great way to meet new people, form new friendships, and have fun!

Position Summary:

 

Volunteers in this position will assist in the production and assembly of events that DASCH’s Recreational Team creates and hosts. Volunteers may find themselves in a variety of different tasks that include assisting the people we support in events or games such as crafts, bingo, baking, sports, and much more.

 

 Schedule:

 

Your volunteer schedule as an Events Assembly Volunteer is dependent on several factors, such as your availability, the dates and time of our events, and how often you wish to volunteer.

Role & Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as a positive role model for the people we support, DASCH staff, attendees, and anyone outside of DASCH.
  • Maintain effective communication with DASCH staff and supervisors to ensure coordination of roles and responsibilities.
  • Complete your tasks diligently, honestly, and with integrity.
  • Be punctual for your volunteer duty or shift.
  • Be reliable and responsible.
  • Communicate any issues or concerns which are likely to affect your volunteer duties.
  • Carry out your duties as assigned and directed.
  • Accept guidance from the Volunteer Coordinator or Supervisor.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Fluent in English.
  • Smart device with internet access is required for communication.
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm.
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound knowledge of intellectual disabilities is an asset.

If over the age of 18, DASCH requires a Criminal Record Check (CRC) and at least 2 reliable references prior to commencement of volunteering.

 

Please note that certain task may require an Adult Abuse Registry Check (AARC) and Child Abuse Registry Check (CARC) for adult volunteers. This may be paid for by DASCH and is in addition to the CRC and 2 reliable sources.

For ages 14-17 years, DASCH requires at least 2 reliable references prior to commencement of volunteering.

 

DASCH will accept existing CRC, AARC and CARC if dated within 3 months of your application date.  You may be required to apply for a CRC in-person if you have lived in the province of Manitoba for less than 1 year.  CRC can be obtained in-person at 245 Smith Street, Winnipeg.  You may also apply for a CRC online, with a valid credit card, at https://policeinformationcheck.winnipeg.ca/
