About Shelter Movers:
Shelter Movers is a national, volunteer-powered charitable organization providing moving and storage services at no cost to individuals and families fleeing abuse. We collaborate with local businesses and community agencies to support people, primarily women and children, as they transition to a life free of violence.
The Role
The Outreach Coordinator will assist in identifying and attending community events and activities to increase volunteer recruitment, fundraising and general awareness of Gender Based Violence (GBV) in Vancouver.
Responsibilities
● Assist in identifying outreach strategies and initiatives
● Attend community events and activities to represent Shelter Movers Vancouver
● Distribute outreach and marketing materials within the community
● Build network with the community and business partners for fundraising and general awareness of GBV
Skills and Qualifications
● Long term interest and/or experience in the GBV sector
● Ability to maintain a voice that is supportive, approachable, anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and inclusive in all areas of communication
● Previous experience providing information to the public, outreach, recruitment ,etc
● Ability to prioritize tasks and shift priorities as necessary
Role Details
● Time commitment: 4-6 hours per month
● Hybrid volunteer position, requiring in-person events
As a Volunteer at Shelter Movers:
- You’ll have the opportunity to make a positive impact on your community by supporting women and families transitioning from violence and abuse.
- You’ll receive training in preparation for your role, and have access to ongoing training material and opportunities.
- You’ll work with a great team of passionate volunteers and supporters.
- After 3 months of satisfactory service, a confirmation of volunteering can be provided.
- After 6 months, we'd be happy to provide a personalized reference letter.
