About Sisters Dialogue

Sisters Dialogue is comprised of a diverse group of Muslim women based in Amiskwacîwâskahikan, Treaty 6 Territory (Edmonton) with a goal to provide culturally safer spaces and supports for racialized Muslim women and girls through an intersectional, collaborative, and women-centered framework. We are a grassroots organization created by Muslim women for Muslim women and girls. Sisters Dialogue is committed to advancing the safety and well-being of Muslim women and girls through advocacy and creating safer spaces and supports.

Role Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our volunteer Board of Directors as Treasurer. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to social justice, a solid understanding of financial management, and a desire to support our mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Project Manager to oversee the financial management of Sisters Dialogue, including budgeting, financial planning, and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with external accounting agent to ensures that financial records are accurate and up-to-date
  • Review and present financial statements to the Board of Directors.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager and other board members to support fundraising initiatives and financial sustainability.
  • Participate in board meetings and other organizational events as needed.

Qualifications

  • A passion for social justice and alignment with the mandate of Sisters Dialogue.
  • Experience in financial management, accounting, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of non-profit financial practices and regulations.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Previous board experience is an asset but not required.
  • Bonus: Lived experience as a Muslim woman or woman of color.
