Position: Programs Assistant, Volunteer 

Location: Hybrid: In-person at our Vancouver office or at Surrey and Burnaby locations and virtual

Start date: As soon as possible

Job Purpose

Pacific Immigrant Resources Society (PIRS) is a community-based, non-profit organization serving immigrant and refugee women and their young children since 1975. PIRS delivers accessible, inclusive, low-barrier programs for immigrant and refugee women and their children that create a sense of belonging, meaningful participation and leadership.

The purpose of the Program Assistant is to help and support different programs in PIRS.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with event setup and coordination, ensuring all logistics are in place.
  • Provide administrative assistance, including documentation and communication tasks.
  • Help maintain a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all students.
  • Help with the set up and finishing everyday classes
  • Foster and maintain effective communication with staff, volunteers, partners, and management

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience in event coordination is a plus.
  • A passion for working with non-profit organizations and community events.
  • Understanding of the intersecting barriers and unique needs of immigrant and refugee women
  • Possession of non-judgmental and genuinely positive attitudes (culture, religion, race, gender, sexuality, special needs, etc.) and freedom from stereotypes
  • Passion for inclusivity and diversity, and interest in being part of a multicultural team is an asset
  • Good oral and written English language skills; additional language skills are an asset
  • Attitudes and values aligned with the goals and philosophy of PIRS

Location and Date:

The programs will be at Surrey and Burnaby from July to September and from October to January
