Join the Kids’ Health Links Foundation Board of Directors

KHLF, a National Charity based in Oakville, Ontario, was founded by Christina and Basile Papaevangelou in 2004 after her near death from Toxic Shock. We have empowered adolescents living with chronic conditions and life challenges and the professionals who care for them since 2007. KHLF is Canada’s only charity specializing in online child life interventions and peer-to-peer support for these youth. It also provides adolescents with the tools to cope with stressful life events. Since KHLF’s founding, the foundation and Board of Directors have raised more than $ 6,000,000 to deliver on our Vision and Mission.

MISSION: To empower youth and teens living with chronic conditions, grief, mental health, and other life challenges and their health professionals by connecting them through inclusive communities of support and practice. To BETTER HEALTH OUTCOMES by fostering innovation and enhancing knowledge to improve care, health, and well-being across all sectors and communities (geographic, ethnic, and cultural).

VISION: To be the premier national social and clinical support network that connects youth, teens, and health professionals to enhance their quality of life.

We provide two key programs at no cost:

UPOPOLIS is a private, safe, secure, and moderated online community that enables peer-to-peer engagement, connecting youth and teens facing life challenges to reduce isolation and stress and help them cope and live well.

UPEDIA is an online community of practice: for pediatric health care practitioners facilitating peer-to-peer engagement, knowledge exchange, professional development, education, and sharing of best practices.

“Health is...a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”

www.upopolis.com Our social technology enables peer-to-peer engagement for youth facing challenges like chronic illness and grief (10- 18 years of age) to help with their fear, stress, isolation, and loneliness.
