Who We Are

Story Planet is a nonprofit organization dedicated to amplifying the voices of children and young people in Toronto's equity-seeking communities. Our creative writing workshops inspire kids to imagine and tell stories while building literacy and confidence in the value of their words and ideas. We occupy a unique place at the intersection of the arts, social justice, and education.  

What We're Looking For

As a workshop volunteer, you will work in small groups and one-on-one with kids aged 7–13, helping them create and write stories, scripts, and comic books, build confidence, and improve literacy.

You must be able to attend workshops during school hours, but we do not have a minimum number of hours required of our volunteers.

The ideal volunteers are:

• About to travel to schools (most tend to be around Jane-Finch and in Scarborough, but we do programs across the city)
• Great with kids and able to jump in and engage
• Passionate about helping kids in equity-deserving communities
• Responsible and punctual
