Board Member
The Braille Tone Music Society of Canada
Work From Home - Edmonton area
flexible / as needed
closes in 3 days (Fri, 8 Nov)

The Braille Tone Music Society of Canada is an inclusive artistic community which pursues engaging and rewarding musical experiences for all of its members, beyond any limiting factor. Our programming currently includes the Braille Tone Choir, the Semitones Children and Youth Choir, and subsidies for private music lessons. Our name speaks to our founding programming, offering services to persons with visual impairments, but we are proud to have expanded to serve persons with all disabilities.

The Braille Tone Music Society is recruiting volunteer board members of all experience levels. We are specifically seeking board members to fill director at large roles in any of the following areas:

  • Non-Profit Fundraising

  • Communications and Marketing

  • Board Governance and/or Policy Development

  • Legal Expertise

  • Community Builders

The Board of Directors is responsible for the governance of the organization, developing policy, directing staff and contractors, strategic planning and goal setting. As a smaller organization, our board also serves in important operational roles with key but time-limited involvement in communications, fund development, and financial oversight. The Board meets monthly, with each board member committing 5 - 10 hours per month between meetings, meeting preparation, committee work, and other responsibilities. Board terms are 2 years in length. The board meets in person, with the option to join virtually if needed. Ideal board candidates have a love of the arts, a passion for creating safe and welcoming communities, and an excellent sense of humour.
