Volunteer Opportunity Overview:
We are looking for two enthusiastic volunteers to join our Communications and Social Media Team with a focus on website content management and digital media creation. This role is ideal for someone passionate about social justice, non-profit work, and digital communication. You will have the opportunity to use your creative and technical skills to enhance PIRS' online presence, helping amplify the voices of immigrant and refugee women.
Key Responsibilities:
Website Management: Assist with managing and updating the PIRS website using WordPress. This includes creating and editing pages, blog posts, and event listings to ensure the website remains dynamic and engaging.
Content Creation: Develop high-quality content for the website and social media platforms, including blog posts, program updates, and event highlights. Use SEO best practices to optimize content for search engines and increase visibility.
Graphic Design: Design visually appealing graphics for web and social media using tools like Canva and Adobe InDesign. This may include banners, event posters, infographics, and promotional materials.
Social Media Management: Assist in scheduling and publishing posts across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn), ensuring consistent and impactful messaging.
Blog Writing: Write and edit blog posts that align with PIRS' mission, showcasing the work we do, telling the stories of participants, and highlighting key events.
Email Campaign Support: Help draft and design email newsletters using platforms such as Mailchimp to communicate with donors, volunteers, and program participants.
SEO & Analytics: Monitor and improve website performance using SEO techniques and Google Analytics. Report on website traffic, engagement, and areas for improvement.
Planner & Strategy Development: Contribute to content calendars and campaign planners, helping to align digital communication strategies with PIRS’ overall goals.
Community Engagement: Respond to comments, inquiries, and messages on the website and social media platforms, fostering a supportive and interactive online community.
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience with WordPress and basic website management, including content creation, editing, and updates.
Strong skills in graphic design using tools like Canva and Adobe InDesign.
Excellent content writing abilities, with experience in blog writing, website content, and SEO best practices.
Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) and scheduling tools (Hootsuite, Later, etc.).
Basic understanding of SEO and experience with Google Analytics to monitor website performance.
Knowledge of email marketing platforms like Mailchimp for creating newsletters and campaigns.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Interest in social justice, non-profit communications, and empowering immigrant and refugee women.
Ability to work collaboratively in a virtual team environment and independently on assigned tasks.
Experience or interest in non-profit communications is a plus.
