Agency Description:

BC Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA) convenes, educates, and empowers professionals who transform lives. We support over 97% of BC's communities through our 5400 recreation and parks members and 2700 registered fitness professionals. Through their essential work, communities across the province grow stronger, healthier, and more connected.

Our work is in the solution space. We bring people, knowledge, and resources together. We champion policy, empower and educate leaders, train fitness professionals, and deliver programs that create safe, active, and inclusive communities where everyone belongs.

Position Details

It’s an exciting time to join BCRPA’s Communications Department as we lead the re-branding of the organization for the first time in over 43 years. Under the supervision of BCRPA's Director of Communications & Engagement, the Communications Assistant will provide communications and administrative support to help launch our new branding across the organization.

The Communications Assistant role provides a unique opportunity to learn how storytelling and visuals are used to engage recreation, parks, and fitness professionals, community members, partner organizations and government agencies. The Communications Assistant will use their knowledge and passion for recreation to inform and inspire working professionals in the sector. The skills they acquire and refine at BCRPA will help them effectively communicate and engage with the community members they serve in their future endeavors.

By the end of their internship, the Communications Assistant will understand better how to manage projects, shift communication styles for different audiences, gather and implement feedback, and research grants to support their work. Through this experience, they will learn how BCRPA’s professional development opportunities are created and tailored to meet diverse needs within the field of recreation and parks.

This position would be an unpaid internship, taken as part of your educational program, offering valuable experience in the field of communications. This position is ideal for individuals seeking to develop their professional skills in a dynamic environment.
