About Pacifica
Pacifica Treatment Centre (the “Society”) is an innovative non-profit society, founded in 1977, providing
in-residence and community-based treatment and recovery services that support individuals experiencing
problematic substance use, and often concurrently, mental health and/or trauma.
Pacifica has established a continuum of programs and services that enhance quality of life, well-being,
healing and hope. This allows individuals to “own their path” to self-discovery, self-empowerment, and
self-actualization. We do this through treatment, education and support that strengthen individuals,
families and communities.
The Opportunity
The Society’s Board of Directors oversees Pacifica’s vision, mission, and operations, providing fiscal and
managerial oversight. Board members make decisions, delegate tasks, and ensure actions align with the
Society’s mission. They also serve as ambassadors for Pacifica, both within the organization and in the
broader community.
General Responsibilities
Board Terms & Participation
The Board of Directors is governed by the organizational bylaws and the Terms of Reference. The term of
office of Directors will normally be three (3) years. Pacifica Board members serve three-year terms and
may be elected for up to nine (9) consecutive years, by any combination of terms. Board meetings are
held regularly throughout the year. Committee meetings follow a set schedule and are held as required
with dates communicated in advance. An average monthly commitment of 3-5 hours is expected, with
more hours expected during the development of the Strategic Plan.
