Who we are: Help Heal Humanity (HHH) is an international (Canada and USA) non-profit organization with a mandate to provide education and nourishment to some of the most at-risk youth and children on our planet. We currently have ongoing global projects in Haiti, Cambodia, Spain and the USA as well as local programs in Hamilton and Toronto Ontario. Our team of volunteers have successfully built a school in Canaan Haiti that educates and empowers 121 primary students per day, carry out ongoing student sponsorship projects in Haiti, and are plans for 2021 include major global educational projects, as well as continued weekly feeding programs on the ground locally.
HHH has achieved its goals in part through the creation and implementation of a number of fundraising events including our annual Local Dinner Parties and Global Dining for Humanity Events, Art and Music for Humanity, Travel for Humanity, Yoga and Fitness for Humanity, as well as by partnering with other organizations to grow our awareness and purpose on the planet. Since Covid 19, we have been largely unable to carry out these events, but we are still active daily on the ground locally in the GTGHA and around the world.
Principal Duties: This position involves a great deal of contact with other people, so the candidate must have excellent interpersonal communication skills. They should also be able to use online programs like SignUp.com to schedule events, co-ordinate documentation, log volunteer hours and create reports. In addition, candidates should be able to:
-attract and recruit volunteers for all events and long-running projects
-Place ads and calls for volunteers on various online job platforms and social media channels.
-Screen and provide training for volunteers in coordination with program goals/ events
-Schedule volunteers in various positions and anticipate areas of HHH that might require more volunteers (for example, during fundraising events)
-Articulate HHH’s mission, objectives, and code of conduct to all volunteers
-Coordinate and maintain positive relationships with current and past volunteer groups, both local and out of town
-Oversee the maintenance and organization of volunteer waiver files. Work to ensure all forms are signed and returned to HHH offices in a timely manner
-Recruit and interface with high-schools, service organizations and other institutions that have a volunteer service component.
-Communicate frequently with volunteers to ensure they are satisfied and well-placed
-Disseminate information for upcoming actions and events
-Keep detailed records of volunteers’ information and assignments
-create and manage volunteer appreciation and engagement events
Should have completed post-secondary education or equivalent or be currently registered as a student at a post-secondary institution.
-Hands-on experience in program development and coordinated volunteer programs.
-Profound knowledge of managing volunteer resources.
-Outstanding knowledge of current trends and information for volunteerism.
-Solid understanding of maintaining confidential data.
-Proven experience managing or directing team members in a fast-moving environment
-Experience in volunteering locally and/or internationally
-Experience in recruiting through various channels
-Working knowledge MS office suite
-Able to communicate effectively with diverse people
-Excellent organizational and team coordination abilities
-A pleasant, outgoing personality
Hours: As a volunteer position we are looking for a minimum of 2hrs per week on average, with the understanding that once we are able to hold events there may be a bigger commitment while we recruit assistant Volunteer Coordinators.
Term: One to two years, by appointment.
