Help shape the future of recovery in Canada.

SMART Recovery Canada is a registered Canadian charity providing science-based recovery meetings led by trained facilitators at no cost to participants. Our growing national community includes 201 active meetings, more than 300 facilitators and a presence in nine provinces and two territories.

We’re looking for skilled and committed people to help guide our next stage of national growth. This is a working board: directors attend quarterly meetings and regular working sessions, serve on a committee or strategic initiative, and contribute approximately 5 to 10 hours per month.

We are particularly seeking experience in:

• Accounting, audit or financial oversight
• Information technology, cybersecurity or digital systems
• Fundraising, grants or government relations
• Strategy and organizational planning
• Research and evaluation
• Communications and digital engagement

We are also seeking greater representation from Vancouver Island, Manitoba, Atlantic Canada and Canada’s territories. Candidates from other regions and professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Directors are expected to:

• Attend quarterly board meetings and regular working sessions
• Serve on a committee or strategic initiative
• Contribute approximately five to 10 hours per month
• Support fundraising, advocacy or partnerships as appropriate
• Commit to a two- or three-year term

Previous board experience is not required. Strong candidates will bring demonstrated expertise, sound judgment, a collaborative approach and a commitment to choice, science, dignity and inclusion in recovery.
