About the Role

Are you a technical expert who wants to put your knowledge to work for Toronto’s climate? The Technical Services Working Group Lead oversees THE Network’s Technical Services team, ensuring that homeowners and Partner Communities have access to accurate, up-to-date technical guidance on heat pumps.

This leadership role is ideal for someone with a background in HVAC, building science, or residential energy systems who is ready to coordinate a team of technical volunteers and help shape THE Network’s technical service offerings.

About THE Network

Toronto Home Energy Network (THE Network) is a grassroots, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to reducing carbon emissions from Toronto’s homes. Launched in 2023 by the leadership team behind the Pocket Change Project, we use a proven approach, collaborating with community groups across Toronto and a network of partners to provide homeowners with peer support and expert personalized assistance as they plan and implement their home’s decarbonization. With single-family homes causing nearly one-fifth of Toronto’s emissions, electrifying these homes is essential to achieving the city’s goal of net-zero community-wide emissions by 2040.

Key Responsibilities

•        Lead and coordinate the Technical Services Working Group meetings and ensure the team is aligned on priorities

•        Oversee the quality and accuracy of technical information and guidance provided to homeowners and partner communities

•        Identify opportunities to develop new technical resources and services in response to homeowner and community needs

•        Research and summarize responses for frequently asked questions or concerns from homeowners from existing industry and research material

What We’re Looking For

Experience

•        Professional background in HVAC, building science, residential energy, or a related technical field

•        Experience leading teams or working groups, ideally in a volunteer or non-profit context

•        Experience with researching technical topics and summarizing for non-technical audiences

•        Familiarity with heat pump technology and residential electrification is strongly preferred

Skills

•        Strong technical knowledge combined with the ability to communicate clearly to non-technical audiences

•        Effective team leader and facilitator

•        Organized, with the ability to manage a working group and track progress against goals
