Community Outreach Coordinator

About the Role

Are you organized, proactive, and passionate about connecting with communities to support climate action? The Community Outreach Coordinator works closely with the Community Outreach Lead to coordinate outreach activities, develop relationships with community partners, and help expand THE Network's presence across Toronto.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys communicating with people, keeping projects organized, and contributing to meaningful community engagement initiatives.

About THE Network

Toronto Home Energy Network (THE Network) is a grassroots, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to reducing carbon emissions from Toronto’s homes. Launched in 2023 by the leadership team behind the Pocket Change Project, we use a proven approach, collaborating with community groups across Toronto and a network of partners to provide homeowners with peer support and expert personalized assistance as they plan and implement their home’s decarbonization. With single-family homes causing nearly one-fifth of Toronto’s emissions, electrifying these homes is essential to achieving the city’s goal of net-zero community-wide emissions by 2040.

Key Responsibilities

•        Support the Community Outreach Lead with day-to-day outreach initiatives and community engagement activities.

•        Assist in researching and identifying prospective Partner Communities, neighbourhood associations, and local organizations.

•        Help prepare and send outreach emails and assist with follow-up communications.

•        Coordinate meetings, presentations, and community engagement events with prospective Partner Communities.

•        Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, contacts, and engagement progress.

•        Update outreach tracking documents and ensure information is organized and current.

•        Assist in preparing outreach materials, presentations, and communication resources.

•        Work collaboratively with other volunteer teams to support community engagement efforts.

•        Support data collection and reporting related to outreach activities and community engagement metrics.

What We’re Looking For

Experience

•        Experience or interest in community outreach, volunteer coordination, customer service, communications, or community engagement.

•        Experience working with volunteers, community organizations, or non-profit initiatives is an asset but not required.

•        Passion for community-based climate action and sustainability.

Skills

•        Strong written and verbal communication skills.

•        Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

•        Comfortable communicating with community members and external partners.

•        Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

•        Proficient with Microsoft Office

•        Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
