Volt Hockey is an adapted form of hockey that creates new opportunities for people living with various types of disabilities to participate in sport, learn new skills, and be part of a team!
Volt is played in a specially designed electric hockey sport chair that is operated with a joystick. With a low center of gravity and hockey blade attached directly to the cart, Volt opens the door for more children and community members to be able to play a sport that they otherwise would not be able to because of physical limitations due to their disability.
We are looking for volunteer coaching assistants in Edmonton. Volt programming runs during the weekday evenings and on weekends. We are looking for volunteers to support at least one recreation session/week. Volt hockey is run by a Coach who leads the program, and will work with volunteers to train and support them.
Volunteer coaching assistants will be responsible for assisting the Volt Coach and helping with fun skill building games, drills, supporting a 4 vs 4 Volt hockey game and assisting the players while helping them feel confident operating the motorized chair.
Note: Volunteers will be required to complete a vulnerable sector check prior to being allowed to volunteer with our organization.
