About YOU CAN RIDE 2:

You Can Ride 2 (YCR2) creates accessible cycling opportunities for children with disabilities. YCR2 programs aim to reduce barriers to cycling and give children the freedom to ride with their families. In 2003, the organization began a 6 week Learn to Ride course for children between the ages of 8-18 wishing to learn to ride a 2-wheeler. In 2013, YCR2 also added a Borrow a Bike program which loaned specialized bikes to children whose special needs prevented them from riding a standard trike or bicycle. You can Ride 2 proudly supports around 200 children every year access cycling opportunities.

 

The Job:

Are you our next YCR2 Marketing and Communications Advisor? Reporting YCR2 Lead Team, we are looking for an enthusiastic individual who will craft and deliver our message to the community, promoting the agency and our efforts to decrease barriers to cycling for kids with disabilities.   As the Marketing & Communications Advisor, you will facilitate building strong relationships with families, stakeholders, and community, and create opportunities for collaboration and innovation. 

 

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Help develop, refine and grow the You can Ride 2 marketing strategy and social media plans (including how to increase volunteer communication and appreciation, how to most effectively use platforms to share stories to engage the public, maximizing effectiveness of print materials).
  • Help coach Program Coordinators and Lead Team members in effective marketing and communication strategies.
  • Embody the Values of You Can Ride 2 internally and externally, while helping to communicate the organizational Mission and Vision to the public and stakeholders
  • Direct the development and execution of marketing and communications initiatives including campaigns, social site presence, organization website, public relations, internal communications, fundraising events and special events
  • Track marketing efforts and grow social media presence from current levels; monitor results
  • Offer expert advice to develop innovative advertising, public relations, social media and events
  • Assist in developing marketing materials.
  • Work with Sustainability Director and potential sponsors to help create guidelines for sustainable funding.
  • Attend monthly meetings (optional)

 

What you bring to the table:

  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in the areas of marketing and/or communications
  • Relationship building skills to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.
  • Strong communication skills demonstrating the ability to speak, listen and write in a clear, thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.
  • Creativity/Innovation: ability to develop new and unique ways to improve operations of the organization and to create new opportunities.
  • Client-centered Focus: ability to anticipate, understand, and respond to the needs of internal and external clients to meet or exceed their expectations within the organizational parameters.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Positive leadership skills encouraging others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organization.
  • Strong decision-making ability to determine importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details, data, information and activities.
  • Ability to determine strategies and create plan to move the organization forward, set goals, create and implement actions plans, and evaluate the process and results.
  • Ability to assess challenges, identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the challenges.
