The CreativeHub 1352 is looking for a Director of Community Outreach, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion to join our Board of Directors and manage this volunteer high-profile portfolio. Who We Are

CreativeHub 1352 (the Hub) is a non-profit organization, committed to working with the community in the adaptive reuse and programming of the Small Arms Inspection Building (SAIB) in the Lakeview area of Mississauga. To this end the Hub works with the community and various partners in championing the development of collaborative creative programming across the arts, heritage, environment and technology.

CreativeHub 1352 works closely with the City of Mississauga (the owner of the SAIB) as a community programming partner. The Hub has plans for an exciting mix of programs, events and activities for the building in 2022/23.  In anticipation of a busy year ahead, we are strengthening our volunteer board of directors. If you enjoy working on a board that is in transition, going from a working board to a board with a primary oversight responsibility, this opportunity could be for you.

Role of the Director of Community Outreach, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

The CreativeHub 1352 Director of Community Outreach Diversity, Equity & Inclusion is voting member of the Board of Directors and appointed in a manner consistent with the bylaws of the organization. The Director of Community Outreach, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion works collaboratively with the Chair(s), the Executive Committee, the Board of Directors, volunteers and staff to support the Board in achieving its governance and community outreach responsibilities.

Areas of Responsibility:

• Develop and/or implement outreach activities, campaigns, and strategies to cultivate community awareness, build relationships and engagement between CreativeHub 1352 and other organizations and individuals.
• Help create best practices to mobilize local partnerships between communities, government, education institutions and agencies.
• Identify and build strategic local partnerships and target markets.
• Serve as an internal expert to educate CreativeHub 1352 staff and board members on critical DEI-related issues.
• Monitor and evaluate community outreach and diversity initiatives against existing and new programs.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills

• Experience specializing in community outreach including the development of strategy through implementation
• A thorough understanding of community outreach and DEI principles, practices, and procedures
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prepare board reports
• Ability to build authentic relationships and collaborations with agencies, government and individuals.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Abil­i­ty to work with people from diverse back­grounds and life expe­ri­ences
• Knowl­edge of appro­pri­ate com­mu­ni­ty resources in the Mississauga area
• A strong under­stand­ing of com­mu­ni­ty build­ing and engage­ment with equi­ty seek­ing groups.
• Rel­e­vant Col­lege and/​or Uni­ver­si­ty degree or applic­a­ble experience
• Strong inter­per­son­al, com­mu­ni­ca­tion (oral and writ­ten), team-build­ing and prob­lem-solv­ing skills
• Volunteer Board Experience an asset
