The Epilepsy Association of the Maritimes is looking for talented and passionate community members to join their board of directors.

 

The Epilepsy Association of the Maritimes, as its mandate, offers education, support and advocacy to enable our clients to increase their quality of life, to grow and prosper in this world. We encourage utilization of supports offered within our organization and in the wider community, to help overcome the obstacles still present in society and increase justice, equity, diversity and inclusion for those living with epilepsy. Our programs enhance support and education to our vulnerable population, engaging them in understanding all facets of their disease and assisting them to obtain the therapeutic interventions they so badly need. We also offer education and support to businesses or community groups whose affiliates are impacted by epilepsy.

 

Qualifications.

To be elected or appointed a Director of the Society, a Member must:

  1. be at least eighteen years of age, and
  2. be a Member of the Society, and
  3. provide an acceptable criminal and vulnerable sector check, and
  4. a resident of the Maritime Province

Duties

  • The Board shall set general policies, goals, and guidelines of the Society.
  • The Board shall receive reports or recommendations from all committees and may approve or disapprove of them.
  • The Board will develop and drive a strategic plan to ensure we are meeting the needs of our community. 
  • The Board will participate in fundraising efforts and help build financial capacity.
  • The Board will advocate on behalf of the association to increase visibility and opportunities.  

 

Compensation of Directors

Directors shall not receive any stated remuneration for their services.
