VOLUNTEER BOARD OF DIRECTOR

Are you someone who enjoys making meaningful connections with others and your community? Start a volunteer position on the Board of Directors at Community Integration Services Society. CISS is looking for Board Members who offer a diverse skill set and who have expertise in areas that are beneficial to the Society.

WHO WE ARE:

Community Integration Services Society is a non-profit organization that provides life skills services and support to over 70 individuals with developmental disabilities with ages ranging from 19+ years. CISS is primarily funded by Community Living British Columbia (CLBC). We are also a registered charity and receive small portions of funding through various community fundraising endeavors. 

Come be a part of our team and volunteer alongside other individuals who hold similar passions and values about our community. CISS is seeking individuals who have similar beliefs and values that align with our company goals.

• VALUES: The right to take risks, family involvement, self-advocacy, and uniqueness and diversity
• GOALS: To maximize independence, increase public support for community inclusion, and to develop networks of community support
• Board members will support the Vision, Mission and Philosophy of CISS and adhere to the CISS Code of Ethics and Conduct.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Attendance at Board Meetings (5-6 per year, typically for 2- hours in the evening)
• Willingness to contribute to Board Committees/Projects
• Attendance at the Annual General Meeting alongside additional membership meetings
• Support of Society special events and fundraising events
• Provide knowledge and input in one or more areas of board governance: Policy and Procedures, Finances, Programs, Personnel, Advocacy and Fundraising
• Be informed on organizational matters and participate in decisions
• Guide CISS to achieve its Strategic Goals  

SKILLS AND ABILITES:

At this time, the Society is looking for but not limited to board members with a Human Resources and/or a Law background.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Before a position is offered on the Board of Directors, potential candidates must have a criminal records check completed, and go through an interview process.
• All new Board Members must commit to a minimum of a one year of volunteer service.
