The London Community Resource Centre (LCRC) is seeking volunteers to assist with facilitating their Grow, Cook, Learn workshops this summer. The London Community Resource Centre is a charitable organization based out of London, ON, delivering community programs that promote food literacy.

We encourage volunteers to apply if they are someone who has a passion for foodnutritionsustainabilitycommunity service, and fostering social change.

Where & When We Require Help + Additional Information:


Reimagine Co. (206 Piccadilly St, London, ON N6A 1S1) on August 17, 6:00-7:00PM. This workshop will be a sushi making workshop, hosted by Grow, Cook, Learn, where participants will work hands-on to create colourful, delicious, healthy, and plant-based Maki rolls—widely recognized as a staple in Japanese cuisine.


Covent Garden Market Kitchen space on August 23 at 12:30pm. This workshop is tailored for the City of London’s summer camp groups (~30 participants, ages 5-12 years) where we will be making Pizzas, while teaching about food literacy skills.


Required Qualifications/Training: 
  • Willing to get a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
  • Willingness to get Safe Food Handling certified (can be completed in 6 hours at foodsafetytraining.ca). At this time, we can not provide cost coverage for volunteers.
  • Comfortable with receiving and executing basic-level cooking assignments
  • Positive attitude
  • High level of communication
  • Willingness to learn and be a team player
Skills Preferred
  • Food handling experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience working well with children and vulnerable populations
  • Ability to take on and execute tasks independently, and also as a team
