Frontline Clinical Volunteers

Are you looking for a change? Tired of the typical go-with-the flow-clinical setting and have a desire to make a change and give back to communities?  Want to upgrade your clinical career? If so, we at Global Peace Network (GPN) want to meet you!


Global Peace Network (GPN), a registered Canadian charity, conducts community development and community health projects in Tanzania. We are currently recruiting for frontline clinical volunteers for both short-term and longer term (3+ months) opportunities in Tanzania.


At Pos+Abilities you will be surrounded by like-minded professionals with the common goal of providing the best possible service to those in under-resourced communities in East Africa. We are looking for individuals who want to push themselves, and are especially interested in those who are willing to commit to 3 or more months in our clinics in East Africa. All accommodations and airfare will be covered, and a per diem is provided for longer-term volunteers.  


Essential Duties

  • Providing direct care to patients attending government clinics for physical rehabilitation.
  • Mentoring local clinicians in the assessment and management of patients with physical disabilities.
  • Assessing the clinical knowledge and skills of local clinicians.
  • Communicating with our board of directors and local partner organizations to facilitate the smooth operation of our collaborations.

Additional Duties

  • Potentially mentoring less experienced volunteers on shorter rotations (<3 months).
  • Identifying and recommending improvements in our organization and in local health care systems.


  • Active license in a health care profession with a focus on physical rehabilitation e.g. PT, DC, OT.
  • Patience, resourcefulness and initiative are essential. 

Additional Assets

  • Clinical experience in a low resource environment.
  • Understanding of Tanzanian culture and the Swahili language would be assets.
