ORGANIZATION INFORMATION
Big Brothers Big Sisters enables life-changing mentoring relationships. Our vision is that all young people realize their full potential.

Our mentoring programs are interventions, helping empower young people to realize their potential. 80% of the young people involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters are experiencing 3-5 Adverse Childhood Experiences, which are forms of social, emotional or economic challenges. With the support of volunteer mentors and our community, we are able to provide 1,200 young people and their families with mentoring services each year.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Big Brothers Big Sisters is now recruiting Volunteer Mentors for 1:1 and Group Programs.

While time commitments vary by program type, we typically require a minimum voluntary investment of two hours per week. We understand that everyone has their own commitments, and try our best to accommodate student and volunteers schedules.

Our program portfolio continues to grow to reflect the needs of the communities we serve. Programs take place in one-to-one or group settings, during school hours or outside of them.

GROUP PROGRAMMING OVERVIEW
Group programs focus on mentorship for elementary-aged youth. Programs take place on school property, during school hours, in 99 schools within our Grand Erie, Halton and Hamilton communities.

Programs focus on:
- Promoting healthy lifestyle including physical activity, balanced eating, self-esteem;
- Empowerment, leadership development, building communications skills;
- Building self-esteem and helping participants feel confident in all aspects of their identity;
- Celebrating cultural identities

Student Considerations: Note that we rely heavily on post-secondary student volunteers, and accommodate individuals who reside in our catchment area during the post-secondary academic year (typically September to April)
