The mission of Helping Hands is to work to increase youth community engagement through technological platforms as well as in-person activities. The organization serves as a platform to match students with volunteer placements in organizations of their interest, focusing on developing the skills the students would like to attain.

 

As the highest leadership body of the organization and to satisfy its trustee duties, the Board is responsible for;

 

  • determining the mission and purposes of the organization
  • selecting and evaluating the performance of the chief executive
  • strategic and organizational planning
  • ensuring strong trustee oversight and financial management
  • fundraising and resource development
  • approving and monitoring the organization’s programs and services
  • enhancing the organization’s public image
  • assessing its performance as the governing body of the organization

 

Areas of Expertise / Desired Professionals

Individuals interested in sitting on the Board with backgrounds/titles in the following areas are encouraged to apply:

 

  • Lawyers, Social workers, Child and youth care worker
  • Finance, IT, software developers
  • State, Government, Federal, or County Workers (Children and youth divisions, preferred)

 

Eligibility

  • Live or work in Ontario
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be committed to the values of Helping Hands
  • Be committed to act in the best interests of all people served by Helping Hands
