Vancouver Aboriginal Health Society (VAHS) is a not-for-profit organization located in the Downtown Eastside community for over 30 years. VAHS programs are designed by and for urban Aboriginal people to promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness. Our services include a Primary Care Clinic, a Dental Clinic, a cultural team of Elders and Knowledge Keepers, and Indigenous Early Years programs.
ABOUT THIS POSITION
VAHS is the host agency for both the 40th Annual Mother’s Day Pow Wow, scheduled for May 10–12th, 2024 at Trout Lake Community Centre, and the 2nd Annual Father’s Day Pow Wow, scheduled for June 14–16th, 2024 at Britannia Community Centre.
Reporting to the VAHS Executive Director, the Pow Wow Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating volunteers, emcees, Drum Groups, dancers, vendors, and all necessary applications and arrangements for both Pow Wows. The Pow Wow Coordinator will organize, prepare agendas for, and attend all Pow Wow Committee meetings, and will produce activity reports and financial statements for all expenditures.
The successful candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings, and they must have strong organizational and time management skills.
