Hydrocephalus Canada (HC) is a dynamic and impactful organization dedicated to providing programs and services to the hydrocephalus and spina bifida communities across Canada. We are the voice of Canadians impacted by these complex neurological conditions. HC’s core programs of awareness, education, support and research empower individuals to experience their best life. The ideal candidate will be well versed in the latest fundraising trends and technology and dedicated to implementing fund development initiatives in a hybrid, virtual and in-person, environment.

 

We are seeking a passionate and experienced individual to join our team as a Development and Fundraising Coordinator. The successful candidate will lead the development of fundraising activities. This part-time 24 hour per week position with potential for expansion will grow fundraising through multiple revenue generating channels. The Development and Fundraising Coordinator will demonstrate an ability to meet objectives, develop new ways to raise funds, evaluate campaigns and events in order to maximize revenue growth and ensure financial sustainability for Hydrocephalus Canada. The duties of this position will be performed in a hybrid environment of attending the office and remote work.

 

Responsibilities:

Develop and Implement Fundraising Strategies:

  • Create and execute a comprehensive, annual fundraising plan to meet revenue goals.
  • Contribute to the growth of the fund development portfolio.
  • Identify, cultivate and steward individual donors, corporate partners, and sponsors through a program of acknowledgement and recognition.
  • Manage and grow donor base through successful recruitment.
  • Coordinate and attend Fundraising and Marketing committee meetings.
  • Support HC volunteers and committees in relation to fund development activities.
  • Cultivate, support and oversee all third-party fundraising events.
  • Develop communications, graphics and other resources related to all fund development activities.

Plan and Execute Events:

  • Conceptualize, plan, and execute a diverse range of fundraising events in-person and virtual, including but not limited to walks, golf tournaments, etc.
  • Coordinate logistics, budgets, and timelines for events to ensure seamless execution.
  • Collaborate with staff and external vendors to deliver memorable and impactful events.
  • Secure sponsors, and partners to maximize revenue potential and to deliver an excellent event experience.
  • Lead the acquisition of in-kind products and services.

 

Grant Writing and Proposals:

  • Research, identify, and apply for grant opportunities from foundations, government agencies, corporations and other sources.
  • Develop compelling grant proposals and reports, highlighting the organization's impact and outcomes.
  • Ensure all deliverables for grant funders are fulfilled.

Campaign Management:

  • Lead and oversee fundraising campaigns, including online giving, direct mail, peer-to-peer fundraising, partnership funding, special events, planned giving and more.
  • Support the annual awareness campaign to enable revenue generation.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop and implement strategies to ensure fundraising activities are effectively promoted and marketed to a diverse audience.

Donor Relations:

  • Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, ensuring a high level of engagement and satisfaction.
  • Communicate regularly with donors through newsletters, updates, and personalized communications.
  • Create and manage contracts for sponsors to ensure all deliverables are fulfilled.

 Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 year’s experience in fundraising, event planning and donor relations in a not-for-profit/charitable organization environment.
  • Diploma degree in a related field.
  • Proven background in leading or managing a fundraising portfolio, including the development and execution of national and/or regional fundraising campaigns.
  • Experience in developing a multi-year fundraising strategy, including the establishment of fundraising campaign metrics.
  • Experience developing communication and donor stewardship plans.
  • Proven ability to secure gifts at the $10,000 level.
  • Proficient in using fundraising software, CRM, Microsoft Office Suite, design and Google applications, an asset.
  • Experience in working with all social media platforms and email marketing tools, an asset.
