Applications are currently being accepted for a full-time Program Manager of the Employment Ontario (EO) program. 

 

Reporting to the Director of Client Services, the Manager of Employment Ontario (EO) develops and manages the Agency’s employment service model, funded by Employment Ontario, which assists unemployed individuals in their job search efforts. The Manager implements the key components of the service delivery model including client service planning and coordination, resource and information, job search, job matching and placement, and job retention. A strong customer service approach is essential in the implementation of the employment service model. The Employment Ontario (EO) Manager plays a hands-on role including direct service provision.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Implements and manages the Employment Ontario (EO) Service model
  • Manages program staff
  • Liaises with external employment service providers and partner organizations
  • Manages client service data collection and reporting systems
  • As part of the Management Team, participates in decision-making including policies and procedures development
  • Ensures staff compliance with Agency policies and procedures
  • Conducts outreach to employers to identify opportunities and prompt job matching and placement support
  • Where necessary, provides employers with sensitivity/diversity training, workplace safety training and information on accommodation needs
  • Facilitates work opportunities and negotiation of employment relationships on behalf of clients including placement agreements and contracts with individuals and employers that include training objectives and commitments and financial incentives
  • Develops a training plan with the employer and the participant and negotiates the incentive as appropriate
  • Administers contract with employers, including the timely processing and payment of financial incentives
  • Provides career exploration, identification and clarification of interests, abilities, skills, education and experience in relation to short and long term career and employment goals in a group or individual setting
  • Provides counselling and coaching in life skills that supports successful employment participation
  • Supports mentoring and coaching during the job search process
  • Provides financial support to remove barriers to participation
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:  

  • Masters-level degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in career coaching and job search strategies including at least 2 years of management level responsibility for a broad range of functions in a unionized environment
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation
  • Ability to administer and interpret level B tests/psychological instruments, Personality Dimensions, MBTI, COPSystem or Life Skills Certification would be an asset
  • Certification with Career Professionals of Canada
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups – including adults, youth, newcomers to Canada or other groups with specialized needs
  • Superior oral and written communications skills
  • Goal oriented, highly organized, flexible and adaptable with superior time management skills
  • Additional language(s) an asset
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence and regular access to a vehicle are required
  • Computer skills – proficiency in MS Word, Excel and data base usage
  • As there may be a remote component to this job, the ability to work from home consisting of a safe and private home office setting and the necessary technical equipment and high-speed Internet access for remote work
  • Familiarity with virtual work platforms
  • Demonstrated efforts to continuously update skills
