Indspire is seeking a Senior Development Officer to play a leadership role in the growth and diversity from organizations across Canada.  To utilize extensive experience in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting prospects. To secure private sector revenue sources to support Indspire’s Building Brighter Futures and other programs, events foundations, service clubs, unions, corporations, and other organizations. To support stewardship activities as appropriate to retain donors and sponsors.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Fundraising

 

  • Reports to and works collaboratively with the Director, Partnerships to develop and execute fundraising campaigns, programs and initiatives aimed at engaging and involving foundations, service clubs, unions, corporations, and other organization donors with Indspire.
  • Maintaining a portfolio of approximately 100 to 125 prospects, including new and existing; Conducts a minimum of 30 face to face visits or calls per year with the goal of presenting a minimum of 50 proposals and closing a minimum of 20 major gifts per year.
  • Performing prospect research to identify and qualify potential major gift ($25k or more) supporters, in keeping with Indspire’s priorities and fundraising strategies.
  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards sponsors and donors annually to achieve identified and agreed upon fundraising targets for programs and event sponsorship, tables, booths, and other event-related activations.
  • Collaborating with Development colleagues to ensure successful execution of fundraising and stewardship strategies and programs to maximize revenues.
  • Generates new prospects and prepare profiles, briefing notes, proposals/case for support, online applications, and other fundraising and solicitation materials.
  • Maintaining accurate, professional, and current records, actions, and reports and ensures that all corporate contacts in portfolio are updated and tracked in database.
  • Collaborating with all departments to identify fundable opportunities and gains an in-depth understanding of Indspire programs in order to prepare presentations and customized proposals and speak knowledgably about the work of Indspire to corporate prospects.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of corporate fundraising trends through networking, research, and professional development.
  • Produces stewardship and other reports, and analyzes results, recommends changes as required to maximize revenues.
  • Participating in activities to develop and share new ideas to ensure efficient work practices and collective, team-based success to maximize revenues.
  • Collaborating with staff to identify and support sponsor employee engagement and volunteer opportunities.
  • Generating and manage the execution of sponsorship and gift agreements to ensure fulfillment of supporter benefits and recognition.
  • Achieving annual fundraising goals.
  • Managing donor stewardship cycle by ensuring support is acknowledged in a timely and personal manner.
  • Arranging prospect and donor visits, events, and tours.
  • Participate in developing the Department’s annual budgets, goals and campaign plans and annual work plans and the creation and implementation of processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Providing support at fundraising events and for fundraising projects as required and attending functions as appropriate to promote Indspire and its programs to donors and prospects.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Completion of a Post-secondary degree or equivalent.
  • Progressive experience with a minimum of five years’ experience of demonstrated success in the not-for-profit sector in major gift fundraising from foundations, service clubs, unions, corporations, and other organizations.
  • Knowledge of and experience in Indigenous communities preferred.
  • Demonstrated openness to learning and willingness to engage in cultural competency training.
  • A solid understanding of the fund development and moves management process.
  • Working towards or having attained CFRE an asset.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and public relations skills and the ability to cultivate relationships with and communicate effectively with all donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Team player that displays initiative.
  • Highly computer literate and the ability to work effectively with database.
  • Ability to work with sensitive information with complete confidentiality.
  • Ability to work in French is an asset.
  • Occasional travel between Six Nations and Toronto offices is required.
  • Must be able to work occasional evening and weekends and possess a willingness to travel within Canada.
