OUR FACILITY

Camp Hope is located on 100 acres of forest 20 minutes west of Calgary along the Elbow River. We offer 6-day overnight camps for children and youth ages 6-15. The camp is rustic with campers and staff staying in tipis. Junior and intermediate camps are offered as well as a Youth Leadership Training program for ages 13-15.

Job Summary: 

• This position is responsible for coordinating, leading and supervision of specific activities throughout each camp day, and to provide support to the Program Coordinator as required. Activities include archery, low ropes course, BMX bike course, wide games, arts and crafts, camping skills such as fire making and shelter building, hiking, etc. Activity training is provided as required.
• You will get the chance to be a role model to the campers while they participate in a variety of camp activities, helping them to grow socially and spiritually.
• As much as it is a job, it is a great camp ministry in which we strive to provide a valuable growing experience for you as our staff member.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervision, care and engagement of groups of campers as they participate in specific camp activities, seeking to instruct and encourage them in the development of activity skills and personal confidence
• Support the Program Coordinator as required in day-to-day camp activities
• Support Camp Counselors in behavioral management of campers

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

• Servant leadership attitude
• Creative problem solving
• Works well with others in a team environment
• Fun, high-energy and quick thinking/response time
• Passion for working with Children
• Able to live on site in community for 2 months (July and August)
• Driver’s License is an asset
• Good physical health – for wide games, skill building activities and walking distances
• Previous camp experience is an asset
• Specific activity skills are an asset

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
• Able to provide Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
• A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset
• Adherence to Hope Mission’s Policies and Procedures. 

*Every returning staff member receives $200 per month raise. All staff that complete the full 7 weeks of camp and 2 weeks of training receive a $1000 bonus at the end of the summer
