 We Are

Second Harvest is Canada’s largest food rescue organization and is a global thought leader on perishable food redistribution. We work with thousands of food businesses from across the supply chain to redirect unsold surplus food to non-profit organizations that feed communities in every province and territory. Our mission is to keep food where it belongs: On plates and out of landfills.

Second Harvest is looking for a passionate and organized team player to join our team as a Food Rescue Assistant. This role will provide timely support to the Food Recovery and Partnerships team to engage, steward and prospect new donors while leveraging technologies such as our CRM, Excel and Arc GIS Mapping software to streamline and build upon existing processes and procedures.

  • Research and develop our donor pipeline to aid the Food Recovery and Partnerships team with engaging new and prospective donors in Ontario.
  • Support the recruitment of new food donors to work with Second Harvest to increase the quantity, quality, and efficiency of food donations, including attending Farmers’ Markets, visiting prospective donors, and following up on referrals.
  • Develop sector-specific resources to support outreach and onboarding of new donors.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned to support the overall goals of the organization.

You Are

  • Passionate: You are inspired by the work of Second Harvest and our vision of “No Waste. No Hunger.”
  • Communicator: You have strong verbal and written communication skills. You are comfortable talking to anyone and you make connections easily.
  • Collaborative: Your past colleagues would call you a “team player.” You are collaborative with great interpersonal skills.
  • Organized: You have strong time management skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
