Job Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team for Fall 2024 with a potential start date in late August 2024. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating positive and enriching learning environments for children, while also supporting and empowering young families through a practice of responsive care. This position offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic team of professionals who are committed to making a difference in the lives of children and families in our community.

Job Conditions:

The position will be working out of Braemar High School between the hours of 8:15am – 5:30pm Monday to Friday (35 hours/week). We follow the public-school calendar (permanent 10-month employment agreement and opportunity for 1 month – reduced hours – for summer school in July).

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging experiences based on observed interests and emerging needs for children’s holistic learning and care.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues based on mutual respect, trust, and collaboration.
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and supported and dispositions to learn are nurtured.
  • Engage in documenting children’s learning.
  • Adhere to all licensing and AHS regulations and organizational policies and procedures to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children and staff.
  • Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to empower children and families.

Qualifications:

Knowledge and Abilities: 

  • Education specific to the field of Early Childhood/Early Learning – minimum diploma
  • Early Childhood Educator Level 3 Certification
  • Experience and knowledge of Flight: Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework
  • Brain Story Certification and Trauma-informed care considered an asset
  • Experience working with children and families from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.

Other requirements: 

  • Current (within the last 3 months) Criminal Record Check and CWIS Record Check are required
  • Current Childcare CPR and First Aid Certificate
  • Must be at 18 years old

Compensation: The starting hourly wage is $27.20 per hour including government top-up and commensurate on experience.
