THE OPPORTUNITY
Are you an organized, client-centred individual, with accounting experience, who loves to make a difference in the world? The Senior Financial Analyst is a core member of the Finance team and works in close collaboration with members of teams across all offices in Canada and Africa. Reporting to the Director, Finance and Administration, the incumbent is responsible for ensuring the integrity and compliance of financial data and processes, providing valuable reports and analyses to budget holders across the organization, and taking a leading role in budgeting and forecasting exercises as well as the annual audit.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Financial Management (30%)
Provide direct support to budget holders in the annual budget process, including the development of, and training on, budgeting tools
Collect and consolidate budget inputs; provide recommendations to the Director, Finance and Administration that support achieving financial sustainability
Lead quarterly forecast process with budget holders; proactively identify potential opportunities and risks
Provide accurate, timely and reliable financial information to budget holders to support financial analysis and decision making
Provide training to budget holders on financial management
Financial Reporting (30%)
Manage the internal monthly financial closing process, including production and distribution of reports within 10 business days of month-end
Oversee the monthly and year-end closing tasks, including timeliness and accuracy of financial statement supporting schedules and balance sheet account reconciliations
Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
Ongoing development of streamlined value-driven, real-time financial reporting for budget holders
Provide oversight on the financial status of projects through liaising with program team; this includes monitoring the timeliness and status of financial reports and escalating to Director, Finance and Administration, as appropriate
Liaise with external auditors as part of the year-end financial statement audit process, in coordination with internal stakeholders
Compliance (20%)
Safeguard financial assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls
Lead the development and execution of the internal audit framework across all offices, encompassing both internal and external compliance requirements
Communicate and enforce internal and external policies and procedures to all departments; provide training to department staff, as required
Maintain compliance with federal and provincial legislation in Canada
Proactively identify financial and operational risks, with actionable risk mitigation strategies
Process Enhancement and Other (20%)
Support Director, Finance and Administration in the business process mapping to identify opportunities and implementing strategies to enhance efficiencies
Actively engage in professional development activities and networking opportunities that expand learning of emerging technologies that could be leveraged to transform business processes
Support, and where appropriate, lead financial systems implementations and enhancements
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO CROSSROADS
Strong language skills in both English and French
CPA or five (5) years equivalent experience in progressive full-cycle Canadian not-for-profit financial reporting and accounting
Strong foundation in understanding and applying Canadian General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); experience with Global Affairs Canada is an asset
Experience in consolidating and analyzing complex financial data
Proven excellence in leading change in financial systems, policies and processes
Demonstrated success in leveraging technology to optimize processes
Strong understanding and application of risk identification and mitigation strategies
Experience working with Financial Edge is an asset

Annual cost of living increases, pending Board approval, and salary equity reviews every three years.
Work an average of 35 hours per week, where some overtime may be required.
Travel in Canada may be required.
