Weston Frontlines Centre is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Director of Programs. The Director of Programs is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of program development, implementation, and evaluation within the organization. The Director of Programs will report directly to the Executive Director and will provide strategic direction, leadership, and guidance to ensure the successful delivery of programs that align with the organization's mission, goals, and objectives.

 

The Director of Programs will be responsible for the following:

 

  1. a) Program Planning and Management:
  • Develop and implement effective program management strategies, methodologies, and tools to drive program success.
  • Ensure programs are initiated, executed, and completed in a timely manner, adhering to established deadlines, milestones, and processes.
  • Identify and address any deviations or risks that may impact program outcomes, proactively implementing measures to keep programs on track.
  • Implement systems to evaluate the skill, experience, and professional development needs of all staff, ensuring they are adequately trained and oriented to perform their duties effectively.

 

       2. b) Team Leadership and Support:

  • Support in recruiting, hiring, and overseeing the training and orientation of all program staff members, ensuring they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to fulfil their roles.
  • Provide ongoing supervision, guidance, and support to program staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Resolve complex problems, provide feedback, and support staff in completing their tasks effectively.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, discovering ways to enhance efficiency and productivity in program procedures and among staff members.

 

      3. c) Performance Monitoring and Improvement:

  • Review reports prepared by staff to determine program progress, identify areas for improvement, and address any issues or challenges.
  • Continuously explore ways to enhance efficiency and productivity of program procedures and staff through process improvements, technology implementation, and best practices.
  • Ensure program operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines, internal policies, and industry standards.

 

      4. d) Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting: 

  • Support in acting as a liaison with partners, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders to foster strong relationships and ensure effective collaboration.
  • Keep senior management and other stakeholders informed by providing detailed and accurate reports or presentations on program progress, issues, and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to align program activities with organizational goals and provide strategic input for decision-making.
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure alignment with program objectives, gather feedback, and incorporate input into program planning and improvement efforts.



      5. e) Financial Management and Partnership Coordination:

  • Approve program expenses in accordance with the allocated budget and financial guidelines.
  • Collaborate with partners, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective coordination, communication, and collaboration.
  • Maintain positive relationships with partners, exploring opportunities for collaboration and resource sharing.

 

       f)  Duties:

  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or as required for the successful implementation of programs.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

 

The ideal candidate for the Director of Programs position should possess the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in program management, preferably in a relevant field or sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to motivate and inspire staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Sound knowledge of budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, partnership development, and fundraising.
  • A commitment to the organization's mission and values.

 

Education 

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Program Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences) or equivalent experience. A Master's degree is preferred.

 

Conditions of Employment:
