Society Profile:

Seniors Services Society is a non-profit agency located in New Westminster, BC which

provides support  services for seniors in New Westminster to live independently, as well

as housing information across BC and outreach services for seniors in the Lower

Mainland.

 

Purpose:

Within the vision and mission statements of the Society, reporting to the Support

Services Program Manager,we are seeking a confident, skilled, and self-directed Event

Coordinator  to plan, coordinate and deliver seasonal services to seniors in New

Westminster under a pilot project. . Event coordinator’s responsibilities include but not

limited to creating schedules for services, drivers and volunteers, advertising services

through promotional materials, coordinating with stakeholders for efficient service

deliveries, and assisting with project outcome evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Relationship

  • Willingness to submit references from previous event coordination experiences.
  • Establishing relationships with community partners, and vendors.

Project Management:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Experience in project management with a track record of successful events.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure
  • Ability to lead a team of volunteers and delegate tasks effectively.

Communication and Requirements:

  • Keeping clients, stakeholders and the management team informed throughout every stage of the process, pinpointing the specific requirements and expectations for each event.

Event Planning and Execution:

  • Brainstorming and implementing project concepts and themes.
  • Researching and booking venues.

Personal Attributes:

  • Creative, out-of-the-box thinking
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Flexible and adaptable. 

Qualifications

  • Certificate and experience in project coordination, hospitality, public relations, management, or related field
  • Proven experience as an Events Coordinator or Organizer with Impressive portfolio of previously managed projects (weddings, meetings, parties, corporate events)
  • Excellent time management and communication skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook).
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to work both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Criminal Record Check with clearance for vulnerable sector

 

This is an HRSDC Canada Summer Job, therefore applicants must also:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

 

Job Details:

This is a fixed term contract position for 8 weeks – 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm or 9:00am to 4:30pm. Some evening and or weekends may be required passed on project deliverables.

Compensation:

Range of pay: $24/per hr.
