Position: Job Developer

Location: Panorama - Surrey

Hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours/week

We are looking for a Job Developer to join our SOURCES Empowered for Employment team! This individual must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, be self-directed, flexible, and resourceful with the ability to work with diverse individuals and establish relationships within the local businesses community to coordinate work experience placements and employment opportunities for our job seeking clients.

Empowered for Employment delivers skills training and employment programs to job seeking individuals who face barriers to employment including survivors of violence and/or abuse, mature workers 55+, newcomers, and persons with disabilities.

 

Description of Position

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Job Developer is an employee of Sources Community Resources Society. The Job Developer secures work experience placements for program participants and provides coaching and job search and job placement assistance to support program participants to achieve sustainable employment.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with Empowered for Employment team and job seeking clients to assess and determine interests, skills, experience and individual needs, and coordinate work experience placements to further enhance client employability.
  • Provide coaching/ job search support to clients including targeted resumes, interviews, online applications, networking, access to labour market information, provide job leads and facilitate opportunities for networking and employer connection.
  • Develop individualized job search action plans collaboratively with clients and maintain regular monitoring and follow up to promote engagement, encouragement, and progress toward employment achievement.
  • Develop relationships with local business /employers to maintain awareness of current employment opportunities and hiring requirements, promote employer engagement, and secure work experience and job placement opportunities for clients ensuring quality job matching.
  • Provide work experience, and post job placement follow up support to promote placement success and employment maintenance.

 

Program Specific Responsibilities:

  • Engage in marketing/community engagement activities to foster awareness of Empowered for Employment and connect with local business and professional/industry associations to promote employer connections and build labour market/industry awareness to effectively support clients with their job search and employment goals.
  • Develop marketing strategies to further promote employer connection and engagement and employment opportunities for clients.
  • Maintain awareness of labour market trends and employer recruitment events, job/hiring fairs and career and education information events and facilitate client participation.
  • Negotiate work experience and employment terms, assist with onboarding, develop training plans, monitor placement progress through regular follow up and address any issues to promote placement success and employment retention.
  • Maintain and update an employer database including current employer contacts, employment opportunities and other relevant information.
  • Maintain documentation of all client communication, activities, and outcomes in client management systems and maintain client, service, and statistical information as required for funder.

 

Qualifications:

  • A combination of relevant education and experience in career development, employment services, and/or community/social services.
  • Minimum one year experience in employment services, preferably in job placement/recruiting.
  • Effectively communicate professionally; verbal, and written English.
  • Culturally competent and service oriented with the ability to establish trusting and collaborative relationships to work effectively with diverse clients.
  • Solid understanding of employment barriers, effective job search techniques/practices, and assessing client constraints and needs to effectively support clients to obtain and maintain and employment.
  • Experience facilitating small groups or delivering group workshops.
  • Resourceful with demonstrated ability to liaise and develop relationships with employers and community.
  • Awareness of local labour market and familiarity with community-based resources.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and effectively under pressure to meet required deadlines and address issues as they arise.
  • Effectively utilize MS Office applications, video conferencing applications, and data management systems.
  • Clear Criminal Records check.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and personal vehicle.

 

Start Date: July 8, 2024

 

Salary: $29.87 per hour
