About Ending Violence Association of BC

The Ending Violence Association of BC (EVA BC) is a dynamic, solutions-based provincial non-profit association that trains and supports close to 300 anti-violence programs and cross-sector initiatives across BC that respond to gender-based violence (GBV) including sexual and intimate partner violence.

The programs we support include BC’s Community-Based Victim Services (CBVS), Stopping the Violence Counselling (STVC), Stopping the Violence Outreach Services (STV ORS), Multicultural Outreach Services (MORS), and Sexual Assault Services (SAS), as well as a number of community coordination and prevention initiatives.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance and Administration is a key member of the leadership team who manages finances and overall administration of the organization. This position is also responsible for the overall direction, control, and planning of communications, prevention programs, and human resources. The Director of Finance and Administration manages internal projects and creates and sustains relationships with staff and external stakeholders.


About You

 

The ideal candidate must have a strong interest in working collaboratively to end gender-based violence. You will have the ability to work from a survivor-centred, trauma-informed, intersectional, gender-inclusive, anti-oppressive perspective, informed by the ongoing impacts of colonization and a commitment to reconciliation. You enjoy working in a fast-paced office environment with a provincial scope and many competing priorities.

 

Overview of Key Responsibilities

 

Finance

  • Develop and implement financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning
  • Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations to executive leadership for decision-making
  • Work with various stream directors to ensure that effective budget management structures are in place for each program budget
  • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports to the executive leadership, board of directors, and other stakeholders
  • Work directly with the organization’s accountant and auditors to ensure that financial accounting and annual financial reports are prepared in accordance with standard accounting procedures
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
  • Manage the financial close process and ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Monitor and coordinate the management of the organization’s investments
  • Manage cash flow to support daily operations
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, laws, and internal policies
  • Identify financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them effectively
  • Manage insurance and liability coverages, as well as vendor relationships, service contracts and partner agreements
  • Streamline financial processes and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy

 

Operations / Administration

  • Ensure that proper management control systems and policies and procedures are in place and always utilized
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions and provide financial insights to support long-term growth objectives
  • Take a teamwork approach to actively contribute to the overall priorities of the organization
  • Engage with external stakeholders to effectively manage the administration of the organization
  • Identify and update new and existing processes to improve the organization’s efficiency

 

Management

  • Oversee the development and implementation of the organization’s communications and prevention programs
  • Work closely with the Manager of Operations in human resources management
  • Provide direction, leadership and support to staff including oversight of program activities, recruiting, training, and mentoring of related staff
  • Evaluate individual and team performance on a regular and ongoing basis

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Professional certification in Accounting (CPA preferred) or related field and/or a combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a senior position managing finance, human resources, and operations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiating, and decision-making skills
  • Experience in financial modeling, financial analysis, and preparing financial reports
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with the executive leadership, board of directors, and stakeholders
  • Detail oriented and deadline driven
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, including capacity to coordinate multiple projects and initiatives, and prioritize effectively to work within deadlines and meet deliverables
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible, bring positivity to the organization, work independently, and show initiative and creativity
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks
  • Experience in a non-profit or member-based organization an asset
