GEF Seniors Housing is the largest non-profit social housing operator for seniors in Alberta and is a registered charity. We are passionate about supporting the quality of life for seniors in every facet of our operations, and we are searching for a like-minded professional to fill our Accounting Manager role.

 

Are you a detail-oriented professional with a knack for numbers and a passion for precision? If so, we invite you to join our team as an Accounting Manager, where you will play a key role in ensuring financial integrity and compliance while providing strategic guidance to contribute to the overall success of our organization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee full cycle accounting activities.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management and financial reports.
  • Oversee Capital Asset Management.
  • Supervise and oversee the preparation of year-end working papers.
  • Prepare annual charity tax return, external agency reports and business plans.
  • Assist with all budgeting processes.
  • Assist the CFO in financial planning.  
  • Provide leadership, training, supervision, and assist in appraising finance personnel in alignment with GEF policies and procedures.
  • Fulfill additional reporting duties as required to support organizational objectives.

 

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary Degree.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience working in a supervisory or management position.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience working in accounting and budgeting.
  • Familiarity with Yardi and Property Management.
  • Audit experience is an asset.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to provide problem-solving solutions and work towards resolution of issues as they arise.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal record check and be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.

 

Details: Full time, Days, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday,

8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Evening and weekend hours as required.

Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience.

Location: Central Services, 14220 – 109 Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5N 4B3. (travel between sites may be required, mileage paid)
