full time - temporary / contract  •  $31.40 - $32.92 per hour

This is a full-time non-union contract position scheduled to work 35 hours per week from June 2024 till September 2024 and reduces to 14-21 hours per week from October 2024 till March 2025.

 

DUTIES

 

  • Develops, organizes and delivers in person and online group activities for youth, such as youth leadership and civic engagement activities, intergenerational activities, sports activities, homework clubs, cultural and social celebrations, recreational activities and orientation/information sessions.
  • Works with members of the team to develop and implement detailed project work plans.
  • Supervises and supports new staff and ensures successful implementation of the work plan.
  • Develops and implements recruitment strategies for youth to participate in programming activities.
  • Establishes relationships with key partners in implementation (schools, colleges, coaches, neighborhood centers, etc.)
  • Liaises with community agencies in the areas where Newcomer youth are living to bridge services to the needs of this population.
  • Working with COSTI’s Communications Dept, develops marketing and outreach strategies targeted to youth and youth serving organizations to promote program.
  • Monitors program delivery methods and components across the program.
  • Evaluates the program on an on-going basis and recommends service delivery changes based on the evaluation.
  • Completes other duties as required.
  • Travel to different locations in Toronto may be required to oversee service delivery at different sites.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Post-secondary education in Social Services or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience providing community development services including settlement, recreational and case management to youth at risk.
  • One (1) year of experience in program and community development in building partnerships with wider community networks including but not limited to settlement agencies, universities and colleges.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of specific issues facing immigrants and refugee youth.
  • Knowledge of youth leadership programming, recreational programs and overall youth-related services.
  • Strong case management, outreach, marketing, organizational and planning skills.
  • Experience in managing relationships with multiple stakeholders in the public, private and/or not for profile sector.
  • Demonstrated experience achieving results while working collaboratively with various constituents in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and coordination skills.
  • Required to provide a valid Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) Police check. The VSS must have been completed within the last 6 months.
  • Access to a car would be an asset.
  • Must be fully vaccinated or be exempt from vaccination on human rights grounds. COSTI reserves the right to request information establishing the validity of the exemption.
