BGC South Coast BC is seeking a self-motivated, energetic person to work with our Resource Development team where every team member plays a critical role raising funds for programs that support kids in being the best they can be!

 

Summary of Responsibilities

The Events Specialist assists with the development, preparation, and implementation of event activities. This involves working closely with members of the community and resource development team. The Events Specialist coordinates details and tasks related to the successful planning and implementation of fundraising events.

 

The Resource Development team is responsible for raising funds to support the programs and services offered at BGC South Coast BC.

 

JOB DUTIES

Events

  • Plans, coordinates, and implements fundraising events for BGC.
  • Assists with budget control.
  • Meets with assigned donors, and potential donors, whose primary way of giving is event related.
  • Collaborates with marketing & communications writer on event marketing materials and social media messages.
  • Secures sponsors, attendees, gift-in-kind donors, and vendors for all events.
  • Responsible for distribution of event information to attendees
  • Coordinates tickets sales tracking, reporting and database management.
  • Manages event volunteer recruitment and training with support of Fundraising Specialist.
  • Leads all event preparations/logistics.
  • Leads event day implementation.
  • Coordinates event follow-up and wrap-up.
  • Supports Third Party events as necessary. 

Donor Data Base

  • Processes donations for all gifts, event ticket purchases, received by mail, online (various platforms) and EFT for Finance Dept.
  • Pulls reports from online platforms for gift tracking, prepping for Finance team to enter in the financial systems.
  • Manages and upkeeps Donor Database and online platforms.
  • Provides donor information upon request.
  • Produces financial reports to reconcile with finance team. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Clear Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)
  • Three to five years of experience in fundraising and/or events.
  • Understands ethical behaviour and business practices, ensures own behaviour is consistent with these standards and aligns with the values of the organization.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient time and general management skills.
  • Experience with databases, Microsoft Office Suite, researching the internet etc.
  • Experience with DonorPerfect would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills with the ability to think critically and resolve issues.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and multiple ongoing projects while working under pressure to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Must be flexible to attend donor related events that occur on evenings and/or weekends.
  • Class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle when needed.

This is a full-time salary position ($50,700.00 to start), with group benefits at six months, three weeks paid vacation leave in first year, paid sick and personal leave, birthday off and up to 5 days statutory holiday substitution days per year to celebrate/recognize religious, cultural, and/or personal days that are important to the employee where those days are not currently recognized as statutory holidays in BC/Canada).
