Program: BC SAF HAVN -Operation Welcome Home Project

Employment Type: Temporary Full-Time (May 27, 2024- March 31, 2025)

Job Summary: 

 

The Liaison Support worker provides support to vulnerable families through connecting participants to resources in securing permanent housing. This position also builds and enhances the clients' capacity to settle in Canada through delivering the onsite program. 

 

Reports To: Program Coordinator

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  • Identifies the needs of program participants through connecting and fostering positive relationships 
  • Organizes and coordinates programs/services which meets the needs of the participants 
  • Monitors and reports on the effectiveness of programs and services offered 
  • Promotes activities and services offered 
  • Resolves and mediates conflicts between program participants 
  • Liaises with external resources and connects participants with appropriate service providers 
  • Recruits, trains, coordinates, and supervises volunteers that support the program activities 
  • Responds to participant enquiries, complaints and emergencies 
  • Acts as a representative for the organization with internal and external groups 
  • Coordinates participant selection and waitlist process 
  • Supports the program with recruiting and interviewing of prospective participants, showing program space, and explaining the rules and regulations of the program 
  • Prepares program agreements and other related documents 
  • Collaborates with building maintenance contractor to ensure facilities are properly maintained 
  • Performs administration processes for participants to utilize program space 
  • Manages, handles, and stores participant files 
  • Collects program fees and follows proper financial procedures for documenting and processing payments 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Integrated Services for Newcomers 

 

Education, Training and Experience: 

  • Post Secondary education in Social Services, Social Work, and/or Social Sciences 
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations and diverse clientele including but not limited to: immigrants, refugees, clients who have experienced trauma, clients with mental health issues, and members of the LGBTQ+ community 
  • Experience in customer relations 
  • Experience in networking and collaborating with community service providers 
  • Experience in volunteer management 
  • Knowledge of community services and resources 

 

Job Skills and Abilities: 

 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Second language knowledge is considered an asset 
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills 
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills 
  • Excellent prioritization and multi-tasking skills 
  • Excellent technical skills in MS Office and web-based applications 
  • Ability to work with private, personal, and confidential information 
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team 
  • Ability to adapt to changing work demands

  • Criminal Record Check Required (Vulnerable Sector) 
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required 
  • Ability to travel within the Greater Vancouver area as required
