The Alzheimer Society of Brant, Haldimand Norfolk, Hamilton Halton (ASBHNHH) is looking for a full-time Volunteer Services Coordinator (Contract) starting June 27, 2024. 

 

Under the direction of Team Lead, Education, Social Programs and Volunteer Services, this contract position is focused on adapting volunteer services to respond to post pandemic community needs, re-building and growing the team of volunteers in Halton.   The position is responsible for engagement with community members through various approaches including direct mail, public events, private meetings, social media, etc. The Volunteer Services Coordinator will undertake outreach activities including community awareness presentations to service clubs, faith-based groups, and others to raise awareness. These activities will highlight the benefits of volunteering and the various opportunities available, especially for programs like Teleconnect and In-Home Social Recreation that alleviate stress and reduce social isolation experienced by clients.   The Volunteer Services Coordinator is responsible for maintaining all volunteer program standards and systems in accordance with related policies and procedures. This position will be based out of our Burlington office but will require frequent travel throughout the region of Halton.

This position is based in our Burlington office but requires frequent travel within the Halton region.  Office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm with occasional evening and/or weekend work. The hourly rate for this role is $22.58 - $28.23 This position has a start date of June 27th 2024.

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience working with volunteers.
  • Knowledge of communities in the Halton region, programs and services, community resources.
  • Knowledge of unique needs of volunteers in smaller communities and larger urban centers.
  • Knowledge of adult education/learning principles.
  • Experience in volunteer outreach, recruitment, retention and recognition strategies.
  • Experience and proficiency in group facilitation and training.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in public speaking.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to use discretion, sound judgment and tact in handling sensitive/confidential information and situations.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with professionals from a variety of disciplines, both within and outside of ASBHNHH.
  • Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications and databases.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Clear criminal record check for the vulnerable sector
  • Fluency in a second language is an asset

Educational Requirements:

A post-secondary education in Volunteer Management, Human Resources, or other related field is required; completion of a Volunteer Management Certificate is preferred.
