The Cultural and Community Development Leader will be responsible for the development, planning, and delivery of cultural-based wellness programming and events as well as the development, distribution, and promotion of wellness-based resources and materials that focus various youth in care and their ways of being, traditions, and culture. The Cultural and Community Development Leader will also be responsible for creating and building positive working relationships and partnerships with community-based organizations that will provide for youths' cultural, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs. The goal is to connect youth in care with community organizations as they prepare to become independent and contributing members of society. The purpose is to build long-term and reliable connections for youth as a resource and safety net as they age out of care. Typically, Monday to Friday, day program with flexibility depending on activities.

 

Requirements according to Canada Summer Jobs:

(a) is between 19 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;

(b) is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;

(c) is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations 

(d) cannot be an immediate family member to a Teen Haven employee

(e) must be fluent in English.  Other languages an asset.

(f) must be dually vaccinated against Covid-19.

 

*Foreign students/or students with a work visa are not eligible.
