Surrey Hospitals Foundation (SHF) is the largest non-government funder of health care for families in Surrey and the surrounding Fraser Valley communities.

 

Thanks to the generosity of donors, they help fund every one of their region’s major health facilities including Surrey Memorial Hospital and the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre. They also support and fund the Czorny Alzheimer Centre, along with many specialized community programs for newborns, children, adults and seniors. Their Surrey health care campus provides health care for the whole family, from birth to end-of-life.

 

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the People & Culture Manager is responsible for building a robust framework of policies and practices tailored to SHF’s culture as it is paramount for ensuring employee engagement and satisfaction. This entails crafting guidelines for various aspects, such as remote work, vacation policies, and other pertinent areas. Investing in the SHF’s employees is not just the right thing to do but also a strategic necessity. By prioritizing the Foundation’s employees’ growth and well-being, this cultivates a workforce that is not only loyal but also innovative and motivated.

 

Developing comprehensive development policies and performance evaluation systems is vital in nurturing talent and driving innovation within the teams. Incorporating avenues for open communication, safe space for idea exchange, fosters a culture of collaboration and empowers employees to contribute their insights. As SHF scale from a small team to a larger workforce to achieve their ambitious goal of completing a transformational capital campaign and sustaining the on-going support for the Foundation’s operations, it is imperative to fortify the Foundation upon which the growth rests. Implementing structured communication strategies, harnessing their colleagues for their invaluable suggestions, feedback, and support are crucial steps in this journey. The Manager plays a key role in ensuring that every member feels treasured and equipped to contribute to the collective success.

 

The ideal candidate for this role is a seasoned HR professional with a minimum of 5 years of management experience, ideally within a dynamic and growing organization. They possess a deep understanding of HR policies and practices and have a track record of crafting tailored guidelines that resonate with the organization's culture while driving employee engagement and satisfaction. This candidate demonstrates strategic thinking and decision-making skills, prioritizing initiatives that invest in employee development and foster innovation within the workforce.

 

In addition to their strategic acumen, the ideal candidate excels in communication and interpersonal skills, effortlessly engaging with employees across all levels of the organization. They are adept at creating a collaborative work environment where diverse perspectives are valued, evidenced by their experience in designing and implementing performance management systems and employee development programs that drive continuous improvement and growth.

 

Highly organized and detail-oriented, the ideal candidate can manage multiple projects simultaneously and driving them to successful completion. They possess a proactive mindset, constantly seeking out opportunities for improvement and implementing innovative solutions to enhance organizational effectiveness. Furthermore, they are collaborative team players who genuinely care about supporting and empowering colleagues, fostering a culture of recognition and support within the organization. A University Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field is necessary. A CHRP designation will be considered an asset.

 

The salary for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 per year.
