Hours of Work Per Week: 30+
Scheduled Days  Hours Each Week: 10pm- 8am with 3 hrs sleep 4 day rotation 4 on 4 off

 

The Program
Program 336-40 Westlock Hen House
Our team provides compassionate, long term care to 2 individuals with high needs living at a community-based home. Challenged by developmental and physical disabilities, both ladies require extensive physical supports through lifts and transfers, as well as personal hygiene supports (which may include bathing, toileting, grooming, dental care, etc).

The Position
PLEASE NOTE *** Applicants must be physically able to do lifts and transfers for low weight bearing individuals. ***
This front-line role sleeps at the client's residence and is available, if needed, to assist the persons-served, with night-time routine, including personal care/hygiene and during overnight hours ensuring a consistent, healthy and safe environment and providing support in crisis situations.
***This 10-hour shift position is 7-awake hours (regular rate $18.80- $22.00/hr). You will be provided a couch to sleep on within the home and sleep hours are paid at $16.50/hr for 3 hours while on shift.
In the event of an emergent situation, sleep staff will be responsible for awake responsibilities to provide immediate support in crisis situations.

In Your Role You Will
• Provide personal care i.e. grooming, dental care, bathing, toileting, etc., &/or teach/model these skills when required.
• Engage persons-served in sensory activities within the home.
• Assist with the operation and maintenance of the program facility (which may include groceries, food preparation, laundry, cleaning, etc.)

As An Ideal Candidate You Possess
• Grade 12 Diploma/GED
• MANDATORY - Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, 3 yrs Canadian driving experience and clean driver’s abstract
• Previous experience working in disabilities or healthcare would be helpful but will train positive, coachable applicants who are eager to learn and develop
ALSO helpful, but will train if needed:
• Skills in assisting individuals in anger management, daily living, self help, etc.
• First Aid/CPR Certification
• Non-violent Crisis Intervention, Medication Administration, Abuse Protocol, Proactive Procedures and Behavioural Strategies, Foundations and Disabilities Training
• Knowledge of basic health and safety rules and guidelines for personal health and safety, as appropriate
