Cameray Child and Family Services is a community-based agency committed to the strengthening of individuals and families through a spectrum of services including counselling, education, outreach and advocacy. Cameray Child and Family Services has provided specialized counselling services to children, youth, and families in Burnaby and New Westminster since 1972. All of our services are offered free of charge.

 

Activity Coordinator Full Time Permanent Position

  • To start as soon as possible
  • $29.17/hour

 

To develop after-school programs in 5 Burnaby schools to assist elementary school students with a successful transition to secondary school.  Oversees the day to day operations of the program.

 

Key Responsibility Areas for Activity Coordinator:

 

  • Plans, organizes, implements and evaluates community based recreational, social and/or educational activities to meet client needs.
  • Encourages and facilitates clients’ participation in activities; provides guidance and instruction.
  • Provides skill-building to clients such as life skills and social skills; models appropriate behaviour.  
  • Ensures the safety of clients.  Responds to emergencies in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
  • Participates in the development of individual activity plans.
  • Maintains related records and statistics and procedures reports as required.
  • Maintains liaison with clients’ families, other community service providers and professionals.
  • Fundraises for program supplies as required. 
  • Supervises volunteers, practicum students, and ACTS Youth Worker.
  • Participates in PQI and other accreditation activities.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications, Job Skills & Abilities:

  • Post secondary training in recreation or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. At least one year relevant work experience is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal behaviour and communication skills.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work effectively with volunteers
  • Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics
  • Must have access to a reliable car
