Stardale Women’s Group seeks dynamic, outgoing, and passionate FEMALE Program Support Workers to round out our summer staff roster. Shifts will vary from daytime to evening hours Monday through Friday based on summer activities.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Transporting program participants to and from classes and events throughout the city using a personal vehicle
  • Fostering positive and empowering relationships with at-risk Indigenous girls between the ages of 10-17 years
  • Helping to put out fires when things go a little sideways and the young cohort needs some redirection or encouragement
  • Providing supervision and assistance during classes and events; participating with them while coaching and redirecting as needed
  • Making after-school program classes fun and engaging; bring your enthusiasm!
  • Advocating and cheerleading to help girls achieve both short and long-term goals

How you will do this:

  • Personality, personality, personality!
  • Building trusting and respectful relationships while becoming a positive role model and mentor
  • Understanding the systemic barriers that our female Indigenous youth face and working with us to advocate and overcome these setbacks
  • Navigating a diverse array of personalities and addressing challenging behaviors
  • Creating positive relations while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Leading 1-1 and small group outings when needed and discovering the amazing group of youth that we serve

Qualifications:

  • Varied educational backgrounds and experiences considered. Preference is given to those with experience in Youth and Child Care, Social Work, Psychology, and Education
  • Critical thinking, strong motivational, relationship, and problem-solving skills
  • Preferred: experience with vulnerable youth and Indigenous communities
  • CPR/First Aid, Trauma-Informed Care certifications
  • Valid license, clean record, reliable vehicle
  • Current Police and Vulnerable Record Checks
  • Personal suitability

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 20 per week
