On-Call Relief Workers 

 

Auberge Shalom pour femmes (ASPF) is a Jewish community-based center addressing the needs of all women and children whose lives have been affected by conjugal violence regardless of their backgrounds or religion. We provide a continuum of professional services in both a shelter setting and in an external counseling office. 

 

All services are provided in a safe, confidential and supportive environment. Auberge Shalom is committed to breaking the cycle of violence through education, prevention and advocacy.

PRIMARY  RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To provide frontline services to shelter clients including telephone intake, telephone support services and referrals and crisis intervention as needed 
  • To ensure the shelter runs smoothly during the shift 
  • To participate in Full Staff meetings every 10-12 weeks 
  • To work as part of a diverse team using a trauma-informed approach

 

QUALIFICATION

  • AEC or DEC in social services in Social Work or related area of study
  • Bilingual in French and English
  • Knowledgeable about conjugal violence and women’s issues 
  • Experience working with cultural sensitivity 
  • Flexibility and ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently 
  • Work experience in related field
  • Understanding of the Jewish community and its customs (asset)
  • Ability to communicate in a third language (asset)

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Position Type: Occasional 
  • Start Date: As soon as possible
  • Starting Salary:  $24.56/ Daytime hours and $19.65 / Night hours  Emergency back-up (day & overnights & weekends) - flat rate of $20 for reserving a specific emergency backup time slot
  • Work Schedule: according to the employee’s availability and needs of the organization
          • Auberge Shalom guarantees minimum 1 shift per month
