Job Summary:

The Employment Outreach Specialist promotes the Employment Mentors Program within the community and provides clients with support.  This position helps bring clients and employers together to provide transitional support during the job search process. This position is responsible for managing and reporting client information using the iCare database as required.

Your Role:

Archway’s Employment Outreach Specialist with the Employment Mentors Program contributes by:

  • Liaising with community service providers and other professionals to promote awareness of the Employment Mentors Program and to facilitate referrals.
  • Inspiring and motivating participants/clients through their program participation, documenting all
  • Organizing and facilitating the Employment Readiness Series, industry specific networking events and topical workshops.
  • Marketing to and engaging community employers to participate in mentorship to clients in specific career paths.
  • Promoting Immigrant Employment Services and the Employment Mentors Program at local community events and job fairs; also promoting to surrounding areas: Chilliwack, Mission and Aldergrove as needed.
  • Working collaboratively with other programs within the agency to eliminate participants’ barriers and to increase newcomer clients’ employability.
  • Organizing and managing the program database as it relates to clients’ career streams relevant to overall program

This position is a great fit for someone who can multi-task, keep up to date on the latest employment trends, and is good at marketing.

Our Offer

  • Wage: $25.00 per hour.
  • A full-time position at 35 hours per week, availability Mondays to Fridays, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with some possible evening and weekend hours.

Getting an Interview – you will be considered if you have:

  • Completed Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • A Career Development Practitioner Certificate is an asset.
  • Experience working in a client service role.
  • Experience providing coaching around employment skills and cultural norms.

The Job Requires you to have:

  • Ability to keep up to date on labour market information and industry
  • Knowledge of best practices in employment skills including resume and cover letter writing, formatting, and interviewing skills.
  • Networking and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to speak a second language is an
  • Ability to work in a shared office
  • Ability to switch tasks to manage change in priorities, deadlines, and
  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment.
